Driggs woman found dead in Jackson Lake

Grand Teton National Park Rangers have recovered the body of a 36-year-old Driggs woman from Jackson Lake.

Candice Miller Kwiatkowski was kayaking in the lake Monday night.

Signal Mountain Lodge employees found her overturned rental kayak about 100 feet offshore in the Signal Mountain Marina at around 7:15 p.m. Monday.

A visual search discovered Kwiatkowski about 30 feet away under approximately 15 feet of water about 15 minutes later. A personal floatation device and some personal items were found in the kayak.

On a second attempt, a ranger dove from a rescue boat and wrapped a rope around the woman. With help from Signal Mountain employees, her body was pulled back to the surface and into the boat.

Kwiatkowski was pronounced dead at 7:52 p.m. Her body was transferred to the Teton County Coroner. The incident is under investigation.
