Temperature records likely to fall this week

Eastern Idaho appears to be on track for a record streak of above-90-degree temperatures. At current pace the region will surpass the record on Thursday.

Local News 8 Meteorologist Dr. Matt Brewer expects 90-degree temperatures to continue for the rest of the month. He also expects some thunderstorms to pass through this afternoon.

So does the Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center (EIIFC). The center reports that lightning tracked over southeast Idaho Monday afternoon, igniting multiple wildfires.

Crews responded quickly to the new fire starts.

The EIIFC is encouraging the public to take precautions on public lands. Possessing or discharging fireworks, incendiary ammunition, steel core ammunition, and exploding targets are illegal on all public lands.
