Grizzly relocated after calf death

A grizzly bear was captured and relocated Friday, July 20 in the Dry Creek drainage near Kilgore.

The Idaho Fish and Game Department was investigating the death of a domestic calf and determined the animal was killed by a grizzly.

Idaho Fish and Game Wildlife Services personnel set a culvert trap Friday evening and captured a large male grizzly.

The bear was immobilized, given a body condition and health assessment, and fitted with a GPS collar. The bear was relocated to a remote area in the Fish Creek drainage on Forest Service land.

Fish and Game staff will continue to monitor the bear’s movements and activities.
