Jackson and Laramie schools to jointly review capacity issues

Teton School District #1 in Jackson has been selected to participate in a “Most Cost Effective Remedy Study” (MCER) to address crowded conditions in the district’s secondary schools.

The Wyoming Schools Facility Commission (SFC) is arranging for a joint study involving Teton County and the Laramie County School District. The idea is to find cost efficiencies that could be realized by having the same firm conduct both studies.

Superintendent Gillian Chapman, who provided testimony to the SFC regarding the district’s secondary capacity issues stated, “We are excited to take this next, critical step to further document our capacity issues and for a professional review of the options the district has to remedy the capacity challenges we face.”

Chapman said the district will convene an advisory committee that will work with consultants and prepare recommendations for the school board’s consideration.

The MCER will meet in Cheyenne August 7 to develop a Request for Proposal that will be used to hire a joint consultant.
