Idaho Falls road improvements underway

Construction crews have started preparing the intersection of York Road and Yellowstone Highway in Idaho Falls and proceeding north to Sunnyside Road for improvements later in August.

Work also will begin Tuesday on Lomax Street to the Idaho Canal, finishing on Friday, August 3.

Traffic will be delayed and slowed during construction, and drivers are advised to use caution.

On Wednesday, Knife River will close the intersection of S Boulevard and Elm Street so crews can work on the new roundabout.

Officials say the roundabout project requires a full closure to expedite and facilitate work that cannot be completed with traffic in the work zone.

Access to the Common Cents store will remain in place for vehicles approaching on S Boulevard from both the north and the south.

The YMCA and other businesses in the area will also be accessible.

This intersection is anticipated to be closed for about one month.
