Man arrested after shots fired in Idaho Falls
Randall Jeffrey Johnson, 67, is in custody after shots were fired in Idaho Falls Sunday night.
It happened at a home on the corner of Pacific St. and Arctic Ave.
Idaho Falls police responded to the area at 11:15 p.m. after getting a call for possible shots fired.
Once on scene officers heard gunfire and blocked off the area.
Neighbors were told to shelter in place.
Police were able to take a suspect into custody around midnight.
Johnson told police that people were trying to kill him and he was trying to get them before they could get him.
No one was injured.
There was significant damage to the inside of Johnson’s residence caused by the shotgun blasts.
A nearby home was damaged from gunfire. Officers determined that two of the shots Johnson fired were aimed directly at the house across the street and caused damage to the house, furniture and car in the garage.
Police estimate damages to the residence and property across the street total around $7000.
Johnson was arrested on the following charges:
Felony- Malicious Injury to Property Unlawful Discharge of a Weapon at a House, Occupied Building, Vehicle, etc. Disturbing the Peace-Willfully Disturbs Neighborhood Discharge of a Firearm in City Limits
