Pocatello airport to add new 280,000 square-foot cold storage building

It was announced Monday that the Pocatello Regional Airport will be the site of a new ginormous cold storage facility.

The building will be 280,000 square-feet and aid an area that was in desperate need of cold storage.

The Miami based investment group, Lionshare Holdings, LLC, shared optimistic beliefs about the future of air cargo at the announcement.

Jim Johnston, Pocatello City Council President, believes this is a great move for the area.

“We sit right on the cross section of two major interstates, one going north and south and one going east and west.” Johnston added, “and we have the product.”

The plant will also create an opportunity for job creation.

“Think of the trucks that are going to bring that product to the facility and then the rail and the air and everything to disperse it around the world,” Johnston said.

The facility itself is expected to employ some 100 people when up and running.

Construction, if all goes as planned, is expected to be finished next spring.
