Old Dominion returns to EISF
Four years ago, an up and coming band called Old Dominion performed at the Eastern Idaho State Fair. Now, they are one of the biggest acts in country music and they are back for another concert.
“The last time we came through Blackfoot we were in a van and a trailer,” said Tommy Garris, Old Dominion tour manager. “We were probably at the end of our ropes on a long drive and coming back here with more buses, more trucks, more production, we are extremely excited to be back.”
Since the band last performed at the fair, they have released an EP, two albums and won multiple awards including the 2018 Academy of Country Music Award for Vocal Group of the Year. The band’s success was a long time coming.
“Probably the last three or four years has definitely changed our lives,” Garris said. “But for the band themselves, I mean, they were together seven years before that and then all this stuff started happening. So we always say that we’re like a 10-year overnight success.”
Garris says people can expect an energetic and fun show. They have one of the biggest stages the fair has ever seen, including a platform that will go out into the audience. They hope when fans leave their show they are full of happiness and joy.
“Hopefully people can come to an Old Dominion show and escape for a little while,” Garris said. “Escape from realities of bills and, you know, troubles that come along the way. We want everybody to come in and really enjoy themselves, to smile and sing along.”
The concert is Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
