Yellowstone visitation slips a bit

The number of visitors to Yellowstone National Park fell off a bit during August.

The National Park Service reports 813,970 people visited the park during the month, down 11 percent from August 2017. In August of last year, the park saw 916,166 visits, the busiest August on record.

So far this year, the park has hosted 3,136,250 visits, which is down three percent from last year. Even with the decline in August, year-to-date visitation is still about 23 percent higher than it was six years ago.
