Police investigate reports of gun shots

Police say they have no leads to follow up on besides the shell casings found at Chestnut.
“This is a very uncommon occurrence for the city of Idaho Falls,” said Sergeant Jon Johnson. “So this would be an anomaly of what we’re seeing.”

Idaho Falls Police are investigating three separate reports of shots being fired Monday.
At 3:41 p.m. dispatchers received a call of shots being fired in the 600 block of North Water. A caller said four to five shots had been fired. Police found no suspects or victims. Then, at around 6:10 p,m., police were sent to the 100 block of Chestnut, where a caller said they had heard shots fired.
Officers found shell casings in the area.
Later Monday, Idaho Falls Police were dispatched to another report of shots fired in the 200 block of East 16th. The caller heard three successive shots, then three more that came from the area of 17th Street. Police checked the area but found no evidence or witnesses.
