Emergency alert system testing scheduled for IF area Thursday

When you hear sirens Thursday a little after 12 p.m., don’t be alarmed. It is only a test.

Bonneville County Emergency Management will be conducting a test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) sirens throughout Idaho Falls and Ammon on Sept. 20 at approximately 12:18 p.m.

The sirens will sound for approximately 1 minute.

Officials say there is no need to call emergency services with this activation.

In the event the emergency alert sirens are used in a real event, tune into Local News 8 and KIDK Eyewitness News 3 for information and instructions regarding the disaster and/or emergency that may be occurring.
