Marten Creek fire now 77 percent contained

Despite gusty winds, firefighters report progress in containing the Marten Creek Fire 13 miles east of Afton, Wyoming.

As of Thursday morning, the fire was estimated at 6,475 acres and is now 77 percent contained. 354 personnel are assigned to the fire. It is believed to be human caused, but remains under investigation.

A Red Flag warning, due to adverse weather conditions and dry fuels, is posted for the area until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Fire managers say smoke from the Marten Creek and Roosevelt fires could enter Star Valley Thursday and warn residents with respiratory issues to be cautious.
