Fremont County to lift fire restrictions Thursday

Fire Marshal Keith Richey says Fremont County will drop its fire restrictions beginning Thursday, Oct. 4.

Anyone wanting to burn must receive a permit from their local fire district. Failure to do so could result in a misdemeanor citation.

Until October 20, the Idaho Department of Lands requires a permit. Failure to do so is also a misdemeanor.

And, in any case, burning is prohibited when wind speeds are over 20 miles per hour.

Although there have been numerous small fires in eastern Idaho this fire season, Richey said the overall acres burned are lower than they have been in the past two years.
