Community celebrates life of late principal

Dozens of relatives, fellow faculty, students and more paid their respects to Principal Oliver Roberts on Thursday afternoon.

The funeral service was held at the Ammon Foothills Stake Center, just across the street from where Roberts was principal at Woodland Hills Elementary School. Local firefighters hung a huge flag in front of the school in the parking lot.

Services included a family prayer, music, and family and friends remembering the life of the principal.

A burial was held at Fielding Memorial Cemetery where dozens served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

The funeral overflow services were broadcast to the Blackhawk LDS Church building, just up the road.

School was canceled on Thursday for all Bonneville School District 93 schools so students and administrators could attend the funeral services.

Roberts had been with the Bonneville County School District since 2010. He was principal at Woodland Hills for five years. Prior to that, he was principal at Iona Elementary for three years and spent two years as assistant principal at Rocky Mountain Middle School.
