Man hospitalized after crash

UPDATE 5:10 p.m. Idaho State Police reports a 57-year-old Shelley man was transported to the hospital after a crash northbound on Interstate 15 at milepost 117, in Idaho Falls around 6:39 a.m. Thursday.

ISP reports Robert Nii was driving northbound in the left lane of Interstate 15 in a Ford F150 pickup, passing a vehicle in the right lane, and as he attempted to pass, the other vehicle crossed the center line into his lane of travel.

Nii swerved to avoid the other vehicle, lost control of his vehicle on the wet road, struck an ITD road sign, left the road, struck a fence, and struck three trailers on private property on Pioneer Rd.

Nii was wearing a seat belt.

The investigation is ongoing.

Idaho State Police reports a $50,000 pickup truck was destroyed in an injury crash around 7:15 a.m. Thursday.

According to ISP, the crash happened at mile marker 117 on Interstate 15.Officials say the driver was buckled. “Seatbelts do save lives!”
