Jail walkaway captured at motel

UPDATE 10/10/18 4:15 p.m. The Pocatello Police Department captured Power County inmate Michael Edgar McCann at the Thunderbird Motel around 12:55 p.m. Wednesday.

The Pocatello Police Department placed him into custody on an Arrest Warrant for Felony Escape.

McCann has since been brought back to the Power County Jail where he is now incarcerated.

The Power County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public and the Pocatello Police Department for their assistance.

The Power County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a trustee inmate who walked away from the county jail while out on a cleaning detail.

At the time of his escape, Michael Edgar McCann was wearing an orange t-shirt and green and white jail pants.

Investigators say McCann apparently changed his clothing. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a “Double M” logo on the back, with green sweatpants and a tan hat.

McCann has family ties in Pocatello and Oregon, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who may have seen McCann or knows of his whereabouts should not approach him or make contact, but contact the Power County Sheriff’s Office at (208) 226-2311 or local law enforcement immediately.
