Locals used in filming of upcoming film

Local residents had the chance to be filmed as extras for an upcoming indie picture on Monday.

“Puppy Love,” an upcoming film starring Roseanna Arquette with newbie Hopper Penn filming scenes for the movie at the Blackfoot Municipal Swimming Pool.

The movie is about an intellectually and socially stunted 23-year-old virgin. It’s a year that sees him fall in love with, and then move on from, CARLA, a homeless, crack-smoking, heroin-addicted hooker he meets through his older brother Danny. The film is directed by Michael Maxx and is set in Canada, and a portion of the film was shot here.

Close to 50 locals showed up to be cast in the film, including several high school drama students.

Filming is expected to wrap on the film sometime this week. The release is currently slated for 2019.
