Two hospitalized after Sunday crash

UPDATE: 11-12

Two people wee hospitalized after a crash at 10:25 a.m. Sunday on US Highway 26 at the Ririe Business Loop intersection.

Idaho State Police said Tyler M. Smith, 31, of Rexburg was westbound on US 26 in a 2018 Toyota Tacoma. The second vehicle was a southbound 1998 Chevrolet C10 driven by Parker S. Richards, 27, of Idaho Falls.

ISP said Richards failed to yield at the stop sign, entered the intersection, and was struck by the oncoming Tacoma.

Richards’ passenger, Jonathan Klotzner, 27,of Bellingham, Washington, was ejected from the vehicle. He and Richards were taken by ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

Smith and his juvenile passenger were both wearing seatbelts.

The highway was blocked in both directions for approximately one and a half hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE 11/11/18 12:20 p.m.: Two adults have been transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The conditions on the two are unavailable.

UPDATE 11/11/18 12:07 p.m.: All lanes of U.S. 26 have reopened.

Idaho State Police are currently investigating a crash in the westbound lanes of U.S. 26 at the Ririe Business Loop, near Ririe.

All eastbound and westbound lanes are blocked.

ISP says to expect delays if driving through the area.
