Armed standoff in ends peacefully

A domestic situation which turned into an armed standoff with law enforcement in Picabo, Idaho ended peacefully Friday when the suspect surrendered.

Blaine County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers from several assisting agencies responded to the Silver Creek Convenience Store located on State Highway 20 in Picabo in southern Blaine County around 10:06 a.m. Friday.

Deputies made contact with 29-year-old Dillon Dugger of Twin Falls in a small park across the street from the store.

Dugger had a handgun and what the sheriff’s office calls a tense three-hour standoff involving 18 law enforcement officers began.

Highway 20 was closed in both directions during the standoff for public safety.

Dugger eventually surrendered the weapon and was taken into protective custody.

There were no injuries.

A determination of charges is pending at this time.

“This was a very tense situation,” said Sheriff Steve Harkins. “We are thankful it ended peacefully for all involved. Blaine County is fortunate to have deputies trained and prepared to handle these situations successfully.”

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office would like to commend the excellent response and cooperation of the assisting agencies in this incident Law Enforcement Officers from the Idaho State Police, the Bellevue Marshal’s Office, the Sun Valley Police Department and the Twin Falls Police Department assisted BCSO deputies.
