These backcountry roads are closed for the winter

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure you are aware of several winter road closures in our backcountry areas.

It’s common for these routes to be closed every winter due to snow and road conditions that prevent motorized traffic from passing.

Traveling beyond these road closed areas can be very dangerous in cold weather conditions making rescue very difficult.

Closed areas for winter travel are as follows:

Snake River Rd at Fall Creek and Indian Creek Fall Creek Rd Bear Creek Rd Meadow Creek Rd Kepps Crossing and Eagle Pass Bone Rd east of the Day parking lot Blackfoot Reservoir Rd E. 33rd N. S. 95th E.

These areas are posted as closed and violators could be cited if found beyond the road closed signs.

Some of these areas may be open to tracked vehicles only, and officials recommend to anyone recreating in our backcountry that they check before riding a tracked vehicle in these areas.

The sheriff’s office stresses the importance of respecting private property by not trespassing along with being prepared for cold weather emergencies and survival.
