Pedestrian struck, killed while attempting to cross street

A man was struck by a vehicle and killed while trying to cross the street in Cheyenne.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Lt. Tim Romig says an early investigation revealed a white Dodge van was headed north Wednesday night on South Greeley Highway when it struck the pedestrian.

Romig says the incident was reported after 6:30 p.m., and the man was already dead when first-responders arrived.

Romig says the investigation was still in its preliminary stages Wednesday night, and it was unclear whether drugs, alcohol or the weather were factors in the collision.

The names of the pedestrian and driver had not yet been released as of 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.
