Suicide recorded on cell phone sends Utah man to prison

A Utah man who helped a teenage girl kill herself and filmed the act to fulfill what prosecutors called a fascination with death will serve at least five years and up to life in prison.

Tyerell Joe Przybycien apologized to the girl’s family as he was sentenced Friday on a child abuse homicide charge. He pleaded guilty in an agreement with prosecutors that avoided a possible murder conviction in the death of 16-year-old Jchandra Brown.

Her mother Sue Bryan told a judge through tears that her daughter had been making prom plans shortly before her death.

The 19-year-old acknowledged he helped Brown buy rope and tie a noose, then made a cell phone video of her passing out and dying in a canyon south of Salt Lake City in 2017.
