Thousands without power in Madison and Fremont Counties

UPDATE 11:45 PM: Rocky Mountain Power reports approximately 5200 customers are still without power and it may not be resorted until around 5 AM Saturday morning.

Rocky Mountain Power is reporting an outage for approximately 18,000 customers in Madison and Fremont Counties.

The outage was first reported around 8:15 Friday night. Rocky Mountain’s outage website lists the cause as loss of supply.

Rocky Mountain Power says, “We are aware of outages surrounding Rexburg, ID affecting approximately 18,000 customers. The cause of the outage is under investigation. Our estimated time of restoration is 11:00pm.”

Rexburg Police say BYU-Idaho has opened up the Hart Gymnasium for anyone who may need a place to get warm and stay until the power is back on.
