Brothers wanted in police pursuit now in custody

Two men wanted by police in a Saturday night pursuit are now in custody.

According to Ashton police, Dillon and Daniel Hanson were detained in Fremont County Sunday night. The brothers, who are also wanted in Montana, were involved in several pursuits in east Idaho.

Ashton Police Chief Greg Griffel said he saw a white Chevrolet Impala being stolen at the Ashton Quick Stop. Griffel followed the Impala going north on Highway 20.

The driver of the Impala drove into the ditch and fled on foot. Police say they then got into a Chevrolet pickup being driven by one of the brothers who was going north.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup drove between Griffel’s vehicle and a Fremont County Sheriff’s vehicle, damaging both.

Griffel and two other deputies pursued the Chevrolet pickup going north.

Around milepost 365, the Chevrolet pickup drove into a pickup towing an enclosed trailer which caused damage to that vehicle.

The Hanson brothers moved on foot but were soon found by officers.

Police say the Chevrolet pickup was also stolen.

The brothers were transported to the Fremont County jail.

The St. Anthony Police Department, Idaho State Police and US Forest Service assisted with the incident.
