New Local Artisan shop offers arts, crafts and more
A variety of handcrafted arts and crafts, many created locally, is now making a home at a new shop by Sisters in Ammon.
Courtney Dowton and Jessica Darrah turned their love for woodworking into a new business to offer more diverse products and offer locals an opportunity to sell their artwork and craft items.
“We realized we wanted to do a little bit of everything,” said Darrah who had her own photography business for eight years.
“I always did like to make signs and home decor for my own home. When Courtney and I partnered up, it was a great opportunity for me to be creative.”
Their goal was to have local Artisans come and share not only their love of woodworking’s but also to hold classes and offer other retail products.
Dowton says she began brainstorming ideas after the birth of her Daughter.
“I was a nurse, and then I had my daughter. That’s when I started brainstorming all kinds of ideas on how to stay home and be able to take care of her. That’s when my husband bought me a scroll saw, and that’s what started it all.”
The shop features a variety of handcrafted wood workings, homemade soaps, apparel, from 23 local vendors. Joni Norman was one one of those vendors on site selling her handcrafted items Christmas decorations.
“It’s something I been praying for that we could get into a building where it’s all year long instead of a couple of weeks or just a day.”
Creative – N- Things is located at 1748 Caballero Dr. in Ammon. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, call 208- 523- 7549, email Creativenthings@yahoo.com
