Fish Creek Summit OPEN after being closed on Sunday

UPDATE 12/30/18 4:00 p.m. US 30 is now reopen, but roads are still icy and visibility is low so officials are urging drivers to be careful.

The Caribou County Sheriff’s Office said Highway 34 from Soda Springs to the Wyoming border is now closed until further notice because of snowy and dangerous conditions.

ORIGINAL STORY: Idaho State Police and the Idaho Transportation Department have closed US 30 Fish Creek Summit from Lava Hot Springs at milepost 375 to Soda Springs milepost 403 because of poor weather conditions.

ITD said there are high winds, blowing and drifting snow, and poor visibility.

ITD also has posted a warning to look out for heavy and blowing snow between Lava Hot Springs and the Georgetown Summit.

ITD and ISP advise drivers to be careful and drive appropriate speeds for the wintery conditions,
