Wind Chill Warning issued for New Years Eve and Day

Very cold air and windy conditions persist behind our latest weekend storm. We expect temperatures overnight to be well below zero. With winds also in the forecast, the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning.

WIND CHILL WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM

MST TUESDAY.

* WHAT…Dangerously cold wind chills expected. The dangerously

cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes

to exposed skin. Expect wind chills to range from 15 below zero

to 30 below zero.

* WHERE…Mud Lake, Rexburg, Rigby, Ririe, Idaho Falls, Ashton,

Island Park, Dubois, Small, Arco, Mackay, Chilly and other

locations in the Lost River, Birch Creek, and Teton River

Basins.

* WHEN…From 6 PM this evening to 9 AM MST Tuesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Wind Chill Warning means the combination of very cold air and

the wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. Frost

bite can occur quickly and even hypothermia or death if

precautions are not taken.
