Deputies find wanted man in Ammon

Bonneville County Sheriff deputies arrested a man they have been looking for since December 23.

Cody R. Nelson, 31, of Idaho Falls, was found walking in the Ammon Walmart on Monday, December 31 by an off-duty officer.

The off-duty office notified the sheriff’s office and deputies set up a perimeter around the building.

As Nelson left through the auto center, he ran towards some nearby apartments.

Officers had to use a taser to stop Nelson and arrested him. Drug paraphernalia was found on him.

Nelson was wanted for Felony warrants, deputies said.

On December 23, a deputy saw Nelson, along with his wife and children, trying to tow an abandoned vehicle on Curlew St in Ammon.

As the deputy tried to arrest Nelson, he took off in the vehicle with his family. The deputy began to chase him but stopped after speeds became too dangerous.

Nelson is now being held on probation violations. He may also be facing charges stemming from the December 23 incident.
