Where to find hospital pricing lists
The federal government is now requiring hospitals to post medical costs online but, the new listings aren’t always easy to find.
To find the pricing list for Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, click the online tools tab on the home page, select patient pricing, then pricing estimates and information and then the link which reads “view our detailed price list.” But you’re still not done. You must then accept a disclaimer. And then there are two more links that will finally give you what you’re looking for. The detailed price list on most websites is difficult to see unless you have a spreadsheet program on your computer. The EIRMC list gives you the procedure ID, description, and amount.
The Portneuf Medical Center list takes about three clicks to get to. The initial link only provides the code and the price, not description of the service. Another link on the same page shows a list of code numbers and procedures; however, it is not clear what that code matches up to on the other page.
Some websites are better. The Madison Memorial Hospital website lets you search for what you’re looking for either by code or by name. The Mountain View Hospital website gives a list of the most common procedures and also a link to look at the rest. The Bingham Memorial Hospital listing gives a clear description and price.
If you don’t know the code for your procedure, it is recommended to find it by calling the doctor’s office that is doing the procedure.
