Rexburg Police honor officer of the year

Rexburg Police Officer Joshua Rhodes was honored by his colleagues as Officer of the Year Wednesday.

In addition to the glory, the Idaho Central Credit Union gave him a $1,000 check on behalf of the community.

Sheila Rhodes was also honored as Civilian Support Staffer of the year. She received a $500 check.

Both received the same honor last year, chosen by their fellow officers and support staff.

Police Chief Shane Turman said, “I think it’s just that they are always here to help everybody at any given time. They are both go-to people for help and for back-up, who are both very caring of other individuals and just extremely professional on how they do their job.”

Two other officers, John Bone and Sam Jaeckel were also honored with the department’s “Life Saving Service Bar” for providing CPR on a call that probably saved a man’s life.
