Weston man charged after threatening woman with gun

David Frank Kelley, 37, of Weston is being held at the Cache County Jail in Logan after threatening a Weston woman.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to a home at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The caller, a juvenile, said a man was holding a handgun to the head of a woman.

When officers arrived, they learned the man had two firearms in his possession.

They found the victims in a bedroom, where they had barricaded themselves from the suspect.

A Franklin County Deputy, Preston Police Officer, and Idaho State Police Trooper called for the suspect to come outside. They said Kelley came forward and dropped a handgun and shotgun. But, he would not follow their command to get on the ground.

When officers attempted to place Kelley under arrest, they said he attempted to grab one of the officer’s firearms. He was tased and placed under arrest.

One of the officers received a minor injury to his head. No shots were fired. Officers said both of Kelley’s guns were loaded.

The Sheriff’s Office said Kelley will face felony charges. He was being held without bond pending arraignment on charges of aggravated assault and assault upon an officer.
