Semi fire blocks US 26 traffic near Palisades

UPDATE 9:00 a.m.: U.S. Highway 26 between Swan Valley and Alpine remains blocked because of a semi-trailer fire early Thursday morning.

According to an Idaho State Police Twitter post, “A tire on the trailer caught fire burning the trailer.”

The accident is at milepost 393, 7 miles east of the Irwin area between Big Elk Creek Road and Dry Canyon Road.

The road is blocked in both directions.

No other details have been released.

Idaho State Police is investigating a fire involving a commercial vehicle. It happened before 6 a.m. Thursday.

The incident is blocking both east and west-bound lanes of US 26 at milepost 393, east of Swan Valley.
