Annual “Fire and Ice” river float draws a crowd to Lava Hot Springs
Lava Hot Springs is known for its hot springs. However today, it was the freezing cold river that drew the crowd. Hundreds of people from near and far gathered at Lava Hot Springs today for the annual Fire and Ice event.
Event goers floated down the river while also competing in a costume competition. The winning prize was a $100 dollar gift card with several other prizes for second and third place.
This event takes place every year on the first weekend in February. Dave Jones, an event volunteer has been attending the event for more than six years. “It’s a chamber of commerce event too. Ya’ know, it draws attention to the city and enhances awareness of this resort town… It’s been fantastic. I try to get as many people to come because it’s really a great event.”
