Avalanche warnings issued
The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center has issued a back country avalanche warning.
The warning entails the Lionhead area near West Yellowstone and the Centennial Mountains in eastern Idaho.
The warning danger for the area will rise to “high” Monday due to recent heavy snow, combined with wind. That will all result in wide spread avalanche activity.
The Center said conditions will be very dangerous and that travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Avalanches in those areas may run long distances into mature forests, valley floors, or flat terrain.
