Man killed in 2 vehicle accident
UPDATE 5:35 p.m. Idaho State Police report a 45-year-old Shelley man died in a two-vehicle crash on Yellowstone Highway, just south of Sunnyside Road in Idaho Falls around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Robert LaDeaux, 45, of Shelley was driving northbound on Yellowstone Highway in a 2000 Ford Focus, and Ryan Shields, 45, of Ammon was driving southbound on Yellowstone Highway in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala.
ISP reports the Ford Focus crossed the center line and entered the southbound lanes of travel and was struck on the driver’s side by the Chevrolet Impala.
LaDeaux was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Shields was wearing a seatbelt. A ground ambulance transported Shields to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Next of kin have been notified.
The southbound lanes of Yellowstone Highway were blocked for approximately two hours.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Idaho Falls Police Department, Idaho Falls Fire Department, and Idaho Falls Emergency Medical Services.

The Idaho Falls Police Department is asking drivers to avoid the area surrounding the intersection of South Yellowstone Highway and Pederson Street due to a vehicle accident.
Slick roads are creating unsafe conditions for both motorists and emergency services personnel as they respond to this accident.
The Idaho Falls Police Department is asking motorists to avoid the area if at all possible or to slow down and be aware if they need to travel in that area.
Idaho State Police, the Idaho Falls Fire Department and Idaho Falls Police are currently on-scene.
Traffic is currently reduced to one lane in each direction.
