Wind Chill Warning issued for Thursday morning

Colder air and winds behind our recent storm system, will lead to dangerous wind chills for portions of the Arco desert, the upper Snake River Plain and the Lost River Basin.

WIND CHILL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 9 AM MST

THURSDAY

Lost River Valley-

Including the cities of Mud Lake, Dubois, Small, Arco, Mackay,

and Chilly

* WHAT…Dangerously cold wind chills expected. The dangerously

cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 10

minutes to exposed skin. Expect wind chills to range from 10

below zero to 25 below zero.

* WHERE…Big and Little Lost River and Birch Creek drainages

emptying out into Mud Lake and INL.

* WHEN…From 2 AM to 9 AM MST Thursday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Wind Chill Warning means the combination of very cold air and

the wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. Frost

bite can occur quickly and even hypothermia or death if

precautions are not taken.
