Eames Complex funding approved
After a unanimous House vote last week, the Idaho Senate has passed a bill sponsored by Pocatello Democratic Senator Mark Nye.
The legislation allocates $10 million to allow Idaho State University to upgrade and remodel the Eames Complex for vocational education programs.
“This investment is going to pay dividends for years to come,” said Nye. “Vocational training is vital to economic strength of Eastern Idaho and the entire state. With thousands of STEM-related jobs going unfilled every year in Idaho, we can’t afford not to invest.”
The funding was originally earmarked for the Gale Life Sciences Building, but the Joint Finance Appropriations Committee approved shifting the funds earlier in the legislative session.
The measure then went to the Governor’s office for a signature.
