41st annual Simplot Games to kick off on Thursday

For the 41st year, Simplot is hosting it’s annual Simplot Games at Idaho State University.

The event brings high school students from around the globe into the Gate City and has been hosted at ISU’s Holt Arena every year.

This year, more than 2,200 high school athletes from around the world will make their way inside Holt Arena to compete.

Running from Valentine’s Day to Saturday, the Olympic-style event doesn’t require its athletes to qualify to compete, welcoming any and all athletes.

Simplot Games Executive Director Lisa Woodland is most excited about the athletes. “Because we have athletes from all over. We have some from New York this year, we have some from California. All across the United States, so we love having that mix of athletic competition in Pocatello,” Woodland said.

Five “Olympic legends,” including Dick Fosbury and Dan O’Brien, will also be in attendance.
