Fire destroys Palisades cabin

The Swan Valley Fire Department says no one was home when fire destroyed an A-frame cabin along Palisades Lake early Monday.

Firefighters were called at 7:37 a.m. to 4545 Swan Valley Highway. Two Swan Valley engines and a water tender from Ammon responded to the fire.

There were no injuries reported. The owner of the un-occupied cabin was Christopher Marcum, who was at his full-time residence in Rexburg at the time of the fire. Marcum and his wife operate a remodeling website.

State fire marshals said that because the fire caused such heavy damage it is difficult to determine the exact origin of the fire.

There have been remodeling and repair crews in the cabin recently and fire marshals wanted to meet with them before finalizing their investigation.
