Unique mammogram check-uprolls into town

It’s one of the most recognizable and important medical exams used by doctors to detect cancer, yet one in four women avoid this check-up.

But now, GE Healthcare has designed a more comfortable way for women to get the check-up.

The idea of the Senographe Pristina, a mammography system that looks and feels different than previous generations, is to help women get their annual mammograms in a more relaxed setting, nicknamed the “spa on wheels.”

“We’re trying to reshape the mammogram experience to [be] more comforting, to encourage more women to comply with their annual mammograms,” said West Zone Sales Manager from Breast Imaging Julia Blaha. “And, therefore potentially finding cancers at an earlier stage.”

“The Pristina” is capable of altering it’s height and angle to accommodate different types of women. The machine is also able to allow the patients to change their own pressure level.

A group of women engineers at GE Healthcare designed the device and the whole concept is “created by women for women.”

The truck hosting the new technology is available at Medical Imaging Associates – 2265 East Sunnyside Road Idaho Falls on Wednesday, February 13 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
