Dutch Bros. Coffee spreads the love on Valentine’s Day

Dutch Bros. Coffee in Idaho Falls is showing the community some love on Thursday. The coffee stand is celebrating Dutch Luv Day.

For every drink sold, Dutch Bros. Coffee gives one dollar to the Community Food Basket – Idaho Falls.

“(The Community Food Basket – Idaho Falls) just did a post that they’re actually low on their food, which they normally have in stock,” said Tonya Thomason, the store operator for Dutch Bros. Coffee, Idaho Falls.”We kind of partnered with them just in time.”

According to Dutch Bros., on average, one dollar donated equals three meals for the hungry.

Thursday is the first Dutch Luv Day in Idaho Falls, but it started nationally in 2007 and has become an annual event. Last year, the coffee chain was able to raise more than $310,000 to give to communities.

“This is our first time here locally. We get to select a nonprofit for this cause,” Thomason said. “We have donated our time to the (Community Food Basket – Idaho Falls) and volunteered a couple different times.”

The event runs all day Thursday at both the Woodruff Avenue and 17th Street locations.
