Petit named to lead secondary education in Pocatello

Sue Petit has been named as Director of Secondary Education for the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District.

Petit, who has been the district’s director of Human Resources for the past four years, will succeed Jan Harwood effective July 1. Harwood plans to retire at that time.

Before she became Human Resources Director, Petit was principal of Alameda Middle School for three years and principal of Irving Middle School for seven years. She also has more than 20 years of teaching and administrative experience in Texas and California.

“We are pleased to have Sue take on this vital role in our administration,” said Superintendent Dr. Douglas Howell. “Sue’s instructional experience and leadership will keep the district office administrative team functioning at the highest level.”

In addition to Harwood, Student Support Services Director Kent Hobbs also plans a July 1 retirement. That will open two positions in the school district administration.
