Jackson man pleads guilty to Driggs murder

Accused murderer Erik Ohlson appeared in 7th District Court in Rexburg late Thursday to enter a plea in the shooting death of Jennifer Nalley and her unborn child at her home near Driggs in July 2016.

Teton County Prosecutor Billie Siddoway said Ohlson signed a plea agreement on February 6. She met with the victim’s family before also signing the agreement. Siddoway had originally sought the death penalty in the case.

Ohlson had been scheduled to appear in Teton County Friday, but Siddoway said that when weather broke and highway 33 opened, the court traveled to the Madison County Courthouse Thursday to put the agreement on the record.

Under the agreement, Ohlson admitted and pleaded guilty to the premeditated murder of Jennifer Nalley by shooting her with a pistol. He also admitted and pleaded guilty to the voluntary manslaughter of Jennifer’s unborn child.

Court will convene May 9 in Driggs for sentencing.
