Local cake decorator needs help finding lost orders

A local cake decorator started a sweet business nearly four years ago out of her home.

Baking cakes for her, is something she enjoys doing.

Valentine’s Day is one of her busiest times of year.

She had a wide variety of orders pulled up on her laptop.

With a lot of things happening in the kitchen, her computer was knocked around and her orders and customer contacts for the next two weeks, were deleted.

Constance Haworth says the accident has left her crushed.

“It’s never just a cake.” Said Haworth.

For her this practice is a labor of love.

“I feel like sometimes I do get to use my social work degree in decorating cakes because I’m a therapist, I’m a counselor,” said Haworth, “I talk to my customers I hug them and hold them when they’re crying, you go through cakes not just for weddings and graudations and birthdays, but there’s also, hard occasions. Like, I’ve done a divorce cake before.”

For Haworth, Valentine’s Day started before the sun was up.

She isn’t sure exactly what happened to the orders on the computer, but changes were made to delete the orders, a change she didn’t notice until it was too late.

“It was not noticed until that night, it was really late getting in bed, and I had been up since about three that morning, getting as many things as I could get done,” said Haworth, “I just hit save on the document and when it saved it had deleted, it kept the change on the word document.”

A change, she regrets making, but now has fixed, so it doesn’t happen again.

“We now have everything moved to a system that has a backup because that was the problem too, the auto save on my laptop has never worked, and so we didn’t have that in place and so we moved that to a different computer that has an auto save. We also are doing a manual hard copy backup of each order,” said Haworth.

If you ordered a cake from her, between February 18th and March 8th, she wants you to call or message her to check in on the order and remind her.
