Mayor donates walking challenge winnings

When Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad joined the Mayor’s School Walking Challenge to the Hitting Hearts Foundation in 2017, he had to walk at least 10,000 steps per day for the entire month of October.

For taking the Blue Cross Foundation challenge, the Mayor earned $1,000. On Friday, he donated the money so it could be used to help purchase adaptive physical education equipment for Pocatello High School students with special needs.

“I’m beyond excited for the special needs kids at Pocatello High School to be included in this Physical Education gift,” said Christian Colonel with the Hitting Hearts Foundation. “This equipment is a great reward for them for all of their perseverance throughout their lives. They deserve it, and much, much more!”
