Pocatello Animal Services starts foster program

Pocatello Animal Services is hoping you will temporarily open your homes to the area’s less fortunate dogs and cats.

Recently, the department started a foster program for the Pocatello Animal Shelter’s most in-need pets.

“The program aims to find short-term homes for animals that require extra attention,” said Shaila McGuire, Volunteer Coordinator. “These are dogs and cats that may be pregnant or nursing litters and fur babies who have a medical condition that requires more hands-on care.”

Animal Services will provide vaccinations, food, litter if needed, and toys. Animal Services is currently in need of donations of cat litter boxes and cat toys for the program.

You must apply to be a foster home. The application to be a foster home for dogs can be found HERE. Meanwhile, the application to foster cats is available HERE.

Paper applications can also be picked up at the Pocatello Animal Shelter, 3100 Avenue of the Chiefs, during business hours.

If you have questions about the application or the foster program, contact Shaila McGuire at 208-234-6156 or via email at smcguire@pocatello.us.
