Young veteran making an effort to bring troops home

A young veteran from Meridian, Idaho has decided it’s time to bring our troops home.

Dan McKnight served in the Marine Corps Reserves and then three years active duty in the Army, then ten years with the Idaho Army National Guard.

In 2006 he spent a year in Afghanistan.

He says we were there for the right reason, and we’ve there far too long for the wrong reasons.

He believes this is the perfect time for Idaho to lead the way and bring the troops home.

“Now is a good time because we have a president who has shown an interest and willingness to bring our troops home from the wars,” says McKnight. “He’s willing to spend whatever political capital he needs to. Being from Idaho we have access to our senators like big states don’t. And our senator Jim Risch happens to be the chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and he is second to the president, maybe the Secretary of State, in making foreign policy for the United States. So the average citizen, like myself, has more access and more ability to shape US foreign policy than ever before.”

McKnight is speaking to veterans groups all over the state. He believes we’ve turned into a nation entangled in endless wars and commitments to countries where we have no understandable national interest and no formal authorization from Congress. He asks you sign his petition HERE. He also suggests you contact Idaho Senator Jim Risch.
