Driver pronounced dead at scene of accident off I-15

UPDATE 2/23/19 8:54 P.M.: On Saturday, February 23, around 4:565 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a deadly car crash that happened on the northbound side of I-15 near milepost 118.5 in Idaho Falls.

39 year old Idaho Falls native Rober Halford was driving a 2017 Ford Focus heading north on I-15.

Halford drove off the right side shoulder of the freeway, went through a fence, and crashing into a brick wall.

The car came to a stop on Mercury Avenue.

Halford was wearing a seatbelt and died of his injuries at the crash.

Idaho State Police was assisted by the Idaho Falls Police Department, Idaho Falls Ambulance and the Idaho Falls Fire Department.

The crash is still under investigation by ISP.

UPDATE 2/23/19 6:16 P.M.: The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash is dead.

Idaho State Police is still investigating the accident.

ORIGINAL STORY: Idaho State Police are responding to an accident on Mercury Avenue.

A small four-door car drove off of I-15 onto the side street.

Police have blocked off the scene of the accident.

There is no word yet on the condition of the driver or if any passengers were in the vehicle.
