Operations curtailed at INL’s Materials and Fuels Complex

UPDATE 2/25/19 10:25 a.m.: Due to continuing severe weather conditions and road closures, operations at the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) are curtailed for nonessential BEA, Fluor and DOE personnel.

Idaho Transportation Department advises no personal vehicles are permitted between the junction of US 20/26 (INL Puzzle) and MFC.

US Hwy 20 west of Idaho Falls to the INL Puzzle remains closed for now.

Due to delays in MFC shift relief this morning, all evening MFC shift buses will be delayed by two hours tonight.

Those employees traveling between Arco and the Site on U.S. Highway 26 should also use extreme caution as high winds, blowing and drifting snow and a broken snow floor are observed.

Due to severe weather and reduced visibility, The materials and Fuels Complex, or MFC, at the Idaho National Laboratory will start operations at noon on Monday, February, 24.

Buses will load at 11 a.m.

Essential personnel will start at 9 a.m., for snow removal and shift relief.

The shift bus will load at 8 a.m.

Shift and other essential personnel are encouraged to ride the shift bus.

There will be no MFC cafeteria service or shuttle bus service tomorrow.

The bus shuttle schedule for other site areas will be posted here.

The Idaho Department of Transportation has closed U.S. Highway 20 from Idaho Falls to the INL Puzzle.

For now, U.S. Highway 26 from Blackfoot to the INL Puzzle is open, which is the alternate route to and from INL site facilities.

All other Site areas will start at the normal time but will run through Blackfoot.

Employees are encouraged to ride the bus, those riding personal vehicles should plan to follow buses and use caution.

Specific Manufacturing Capability will start at the normal time and use the normal route.

Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project shift workers will likely need to travel from the Site by Highway 26.
