General avalanche warnings issued

The Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center has issued an avalanche warning through Friday.

The affected areas include the Teton Range, Yellowstone National Park, Togwotee Pass, Salt River Range, Wyoming Range, the Snake River Range, and Jackson Hole.

The center reports very large avalanches could release naturally or be triggered by humans. The avalanches could run long distances.

Roads in the Snake River and Hoback River Canyons are possible. And, the center said roof slides are also a hazard.

Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended.

The Teton County, Wyoming Sheriff’s Office said a road cut slide on Teton Pass closed the road at 12:30 p.m. Another slide at 5:30 p.m. naturally released in the Taco Bell Chute.

The Sheriff’s Office said dangerous wet slides are possible at lower elevations where temperatures have been in the 30’s for two days.
